I am currently preparing to spend my 30th birthday at Farmfestival in Somerset, my first in the UK, and by preparing I mean trying on every festival-appropriate piece of clothing that I own in an attempt to stay comfortable and chic and to not look too, how you say, too "Thirty". I am bringing with me some very special people including one adoring husband, two ridiculously awesome and gorgeous best friends and their respective partners, and a big 'ol frozen bottle of vodka (in a festival appropriate plastic bottle. Posh, right?). The two special people not accompanying me to this festival however, are my two beautiful children who will be staying at granny's for two whole nights. (YES!)
I'm sure most people preparing for a festival would be writing pack lists that read like a camping how-to guide, including things like: "tent, sleeping bags, bug spray, hiking boots.." and so forth. My pack list reads a little differently.. "Hair spray, coloured hair spray, dry shampoo, moisturizer, sunscreen, after-sun lotion, bug spray (obvs), platform wedges, panama hat, day outfits x2, evening outfits x2, leaving outfit, extra in-case-I-fall-in-a-puddle outfit.", are just a few of the things gracing my list. At least I haven't seriously considered bringing an extra tent just for my festival wardrobe; is that an urban celebrity legend or do people actually do that? Well, I guess if I was Kate Moss headed to Coachella... I have, however, instructed aforementioned adoring husband to sort out our tent, blow up mattress and other day-today necessities since I will inevitably be choosing and packing his outfits for him anyway. It's only fair after all.
It's set to be quite a relaxed atmosphere with regards to fashion, the secret is in the name: FARMfestival, but it's definitely worth sorting outfits beforehand so there's no tussles between denim shorts and white cotton dresses in the tent. Especially if one is not a famous and/or highly toned supermodel/actress/musician/fashionista/heiress, you might want to give yourself a chance to look in a full length mirror before rocking that dress with those biker boots.
In any case I'll be scoping out the grounds for the best festival fash, so don your best gear and work it! See you there amigos. x
